  • Since You are my Lord and Master, what is there for me to fear? Who else should I praise besides You? You are the One and only, and because of You all things exist; there is nothing at all for me without You. O Father, I have seen that this world is poison. Save me O Lord of the Universe! Your Name is my only support. You know completely the condition of my mind; who else could I go to explain it? Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the whole world has gone crazy; One finds peace by receiving Naam. What shall I say? Unto whom shall I speak? Whatever I have to say, I say it to God. Everything which exists was created by You. You are my hope, forever and ever. If you bestow greatness, then it is Your greatness; here and hereafter, I meditate on You. God of Nanak is forever the Provider of peace; Your Name is my only strength (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 382).

  • I perform devotional worship and sing glorious praises of God. Twenty-four hours a day, I meditate on God. I have found a needle of gold (Naam / God's Name), and a silver thread (pure mind). (Through Naam), Naamdev?s mind has been woven with God (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 485).

  • My soul is afraid; to whom should I complain? I serve Him, who makes me forget my pains; He is the Provider, forever and ever. My Lord and Master is original; He is the Provider, forever and ever. Night and day I serve my Lord; He is the One who will save me in the end. I have crossed over by hearing and listing to my beloved. O Merciful Lord, Your Name carries me across. I am forever a sacrifice to You. In all the world, there is only the One True Lord; there is no other at all. He alone serves the Lord, upon whom the Lord casts His glance of Grace. Without You, O Beloved, how could I even live? Bless me with such greatness that I may remain attached to Your Name. There is no other, O Beloved, to whom I can go and talk. I serve my Lord and Master; I ask for no other. Nanak is God's servant; moment by moment, bit by bit, he is a sacrifice to Him. O Lord, I am a sacrifice to Your Name, moment by moment and bit by bit (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 660).

  • I carry the water, wave the fan, and grind the corn for the Saints; I sing the glorious praises of the Lord of the Universe. I remember Naam in my mind with each and every breath. In this way, my mind finds the treasure of peace. Have pity on me, O my Lord. Bless me with such understanding, O my Lord, that I may forever and ever meditate on You. By Your Grace, emotional attachment and egotism are eradicated, and doubts are dispelled. The Lord, the embodiment of bliss, is pervading and permeating in all; wherever I go, I see Him there. You are kind and compassionate, treasure of mercy, purifier of sinners, and the Lord of the world. I obtain millions of joys, comforts and kingdoms, if You inspire me to chant Your Name with my mouth even for an instant. That alone is perfect chanting, meditation, penance and devotional service, which is pleasing to God's Mind. Chanting Naam, all thirst and desires are satisfied; Nanak is satisfied and fulfilled (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 673).
