  • This human body has been given to you. This is your chance to meet God. All other works are of no use. Join the holy congregation and meditate on the Name of God (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 12).

  • Life and death come to all who are born. Everything here gets devoured by death. (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 15).

  • Know the state of your inner being; meet with the Guru and get rid of your skepticism. To reach your True Home after you die, you must conquer death while you are still alive (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 21).

  • Holy devotees, sing the Glorious Praises of God. You have obtained the priceless human life; why are you uselessly wasting it? (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 218).

  • Why are you sleeping and forgetting Naam, O careless and foolish mortal? So many have been carried across by this river of life. O mortal, get aboard on the boat of God's Feet and cross over. Sing the glorious praises of God in the company of the holy twenty-four hours a day. You may enjoy various pleasures, but they are useless without Naam. Without devotion to the Lord, you shall die in sorrow, again and again. You may dress up, eat luxury food, and apply scented oils to your body, but without meditating on God, your body shall surely turn to dust and you shall have to depart. How treacherous is this world; very few realize it! Salvation rests in the Lord's Sanctuary; O Nanak, this is your pre-ordained destiny (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 398).

  • The day dawns, and then it ends, and the night passes away. Mortals do not realize that this life is diminishing. Each day, the mouse symbolizing death is gnawing on the rope of life (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 41).

  • Bow in humility at the lotus feet of the Guru. Eliminate sexual desire and anger from your body. Be the dust of all, and see the Lord in each and every heart. In this way, dwell upon the Lord of the Universe. Your body, wealth, and your soul belongs to God. Twenty-four hours a day, sing the glorious praises of God. This is the sole purpose of human life. Renounce your egotistical pride and know that God is with you. By the Grace of the Holy, let your mind be imbued with God's Love. Know the One who created you, and you shall be honored in the Court of God (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 866).
