Sikhism: Why do we present a THAL or a plate full of fruits for bhog to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji when obviously it cannot eat it or try it or bless it in any sort of way?

Answer:

Guru Granth Sahib Ji is considered a living Guru. Plate full of food is offered to Guru Granth Sahib Ji for a prayer and blessing. This is similar to you sitting in your home at your dinner table and reciting a prayer before eating to thank God and bless the food. The food is offered to Guru Granth Sahib Ji for blessing and thanking God for being grateful to have received the food. The food is then added to Langar and distributed to everyone.
