I'm asking because from what I've seen, I'm actually very impressed with the general teachings of the religion, with how it's about putting others before yourself.

Answer:

Sikhism instruct not to cut hair altogether. However, if for a certain reason hair need to be cut such as surgery, hair could be donated to a charity. It is however a personal preferences, there is no rule mentioning what one should or should not do with their cut hair.
