I just had a query based on an article that was published on this website, named 'science and Sikhism.' I believe it quotes from the Guru Granth Sahib in the fifth paragraph of the article on the second line, that God created the seven oceans. However, I thought that there are only four oceans in the world (or five according to some scientists.)

Answer:

It depends on how scientists classify oceans. From Wikipedia: The Seven Seas (or Seven Oceans) is an ancient phrase for all the world's oceans. Since the 19th century, the term has been taken to include seven oceanic bodies of water: the Arctic Ocean, the North Atlantic Ocean, the South Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the North Pacific Ocean, the South Pacific Ocean, the Southern (or Antarctic) Ocean.
