Sikhism: Do we literally merge with God when we attain Salvation?

I am finding it hard to comprehend that all souls 'merge' with god.. could you expand a little bit & is god made up of many souls that have been purified? I just thought we live in the presence of god as a soul I don't get how we 'merge' with him


This concept is explained in Slok Mahalla 9 by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Once we purify ourselves and meditate on God, we attain Salvation (Mukti) by merging with God. This is like a drop of water merging with the ocean. God Himself is the greatest spirit of all and our soul is a part of God just like a drop of water is a part of the Ocean. When we attain salvation, we literally merge with God, and from that point on there remains no difference with the one that attained salvation and God just like after a drop of water merges with the ocean, no one can distinguish the two.
